What to Expect on Your First Tandem Skydive in Perth

1. Skydive slot availability depends on weather

Among several factors that play into your skydive, the weather is the most important one! Depending on the weather and availability of slots, your reserved skydive experience may move up or down. It is recommended to book slots early in the morning, around 7 AM to plan your day accordingly. You’ll be required to sign a few forms and complete the training session if the weather looks good.

2. Before the skydive

Get enough rest before skydiving. It is normal to have a sleepless night before an exciting activity like this, but a good night’s sleep will help you enjoy this activity better. Ensure that you eat light and pack some snacks which will help you keep calm and grounded. Wear loose-fitted clothes so that you’ll feel comfortable the whole day. Yoga pants, leggings, a T-shirt and a long-sleeved shirt or tops would be ideal for this experience.

3. Arrival at skydive facility

Your Perth skydive experience begins as soon as you reach the facility. Since the experience is strictly dated and timed all guests are advised to check in about 15-20 minutes before their assigned slot, to complete the required documents on time. Following this, you’ll undertake a routine health check-up where the crew will access your height, weight, age, and other relevant factors.

4. Training Session

During your short training session, you will meet the expert skydiving support team, who will guide you through the safety procedures and answer any questions you may have about your jump. Once this process is complete, you can go tandem skydiving. While the solo skydivers jump alone, all tandem skydivers will be accompanied by a trained professional attached to them by a harness. The instructor controls the jump, parachute deployment and landing completely.

5. Gearing up and technical checks

Right after the quick briefing season, you will be fitted up in your gear and prepped up for your skydiving adventure. The instructors will then lead you to the specially outfitted plane. On the way to 15,000 feet, you will be fastened to your tandem jumpmaster. Before making the jump, the jumpmaster will re-check all technical functionalities, making sure everything is accurate in order to ensure you have a safe jump.

6. The Tandem Fall

The entire skydiving experience lasts about 5-7 minutes. Following the freefall, which lasts about 60 seconds, you will get a few minutes to enjoy the incredible views 15,000 feet up in the air. Once the parachute is deployed you gently soar over Earth for about 5-7 minutes before landing.

7. Landing

During the landing stage, float back to the base while enjoying a 360-degree view of the captivating scenery around you. Upon reaching the base, you can collect any extra photos or videos you may have paid for.

Tips For Skydiving In Perth

  1. Do not overeat or starve before the activity. Give yourself enough nourishment to make this activity fun for yourself.
  2. Go ahead and ask to see your instructors license if you want to.
  3. Get enough rest before skydiving. While it is normal to feel excited and nervous the day before your experience, a good night’s sleep will help you enjoy the activity better.
  4. Understand that skydiving is dependent on the fickle nature of the weather. Better not go for the activity than free fall through 15,000 feet of haze.
  5. Know that if you are a female, you can request a female jumpmaster.
  6. Keep your helmet on at all times. It is not to protect your head during the actual activity but to prevent injury from toppling after you land.
  7. Familiarize yourself with the signs used to communicate mid-air as the verbal medium will be rather useless during free fall.
